TFCC Launches Red Cross Family Linking Program for Hurricane Evacuees
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 22, 2008
Columbus, Ohio:Â Columbus-based Twenty First Century Communications worked around the clock over Labor Day weekend to deploy a special program for the American Red Cross.
The Red Cross’ Safe and Well program is designed to help displaced hurricane evacuees establish their post-disaster locations and reconnect with friends and family. Citizens can sign up on the American Red Cross Safe and Well website. If an evacuation occurs, Safe and Well can help families reconnect.
Residents who do not have access to the Internet can register by calling 1-866-GET-INFO, the toll-free “Safe and Well Registration” number, and speaking with the live operators provided by Twenty First Century Communications.
Citizens list themselves by their pre-disaster addresses and phone numbers. Those concerned about a friend or family member can search using the person’s name and pre-disaster phone number or address.
TFCC developed the technology to route “Safe and Well Registration” calls to specially trained operators who can enter citizens’ registration information.
During the aftermath of hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Twenty First Century Communications operated the national “Loved Ones” family linking program for the American Red Cross. This hotline handled more than 380.000 calls from displaced individuals in search of lost loved ones. Through it, TFCC helped to reunite over 40,000 family members and friends separated as a result of hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
